The 2016 Presidential election and other woes

This has been a difficult year really for everyone who cares about the political process and the outcome of the upcoming Presidential election. Here's a selection of cartoons on the matter of politics from the most recent to the first few during the primaries.

More recent murmurings...

I've experienced a recent upsurge of foot pain. It was really getting me down, so I decided to try to use some healing humor on myself. Although the pain might not actually be due to plantar fasciitis, it is such a terrific  name for a malady, I've decided to label it as such.

This was my first "requested" cartoon.  Erica mentioned she was running around packing for a summer vacation and started thinking of herself as being in one of my cartoons. She asked me what that might look like.  I was also thinking about  Julie and her birthday cupcakes, so I combined the two thoughts into one cartoon:

E is an at home parent with toddler twins and a giant dog. I was thinking about him the other day and came up with this to express my admiration:

If you haven't had a Shake Shack meal, then this cartoon might not make any sense. I decided to use pastels to get some color here, as the I was having trouble differentiating the cheese, lettuce, and burger meat. Not sure I'll attempt color again.

Back to Birding

The other week, we drove one and a half hours to Corkscrew Swamp Preserve, one of my favorite birding spots. That's a long drive and we didn't see much of anything on the entire two mile or so boardwalk through the swamp. Something about how the water was too high. However,  just as we were about to finish the walk, four red-shouldered hawks began swooping and circling over our heads, calling and calling. It was a fantastic sight. Worth the drive.

When Birding, you never know what you'll see!

On the other hand, sometimes, you don't see what's there...

Went birding the other day, didn't see anything

I find birds a source of delight and humor. One of my favorite birds, among many, is the Mockingbird. I love all the different calls that they make. My particular favorite is what I think is a seagull call. You never know what you'll hear.

Art and Humor

Good thing there's humor I can find in art, as without it, art would be a very grim business indeed.

Sometimes even the art has an opinion
